I am 37,000 feet in the air, flying above the arctic circle: it has been quite a summer! My goals for June, July, and August were to:
1. Spend time with my family
2. Raise funds and awareness for Living Stones
3. Prepare for this fall in Brazil
4. Grow professionally and personally
I have been able to have some great memories with my family, including celebrate my Dad’s 65th birthday, vacation, travel, bike ride with Rowan, and celebrate my own 30th birthday at home (well, next week I will). It has been a blessing to connect with so many loved ones.
The Trek for Transportation raised over $4,000 (still need $21,000 to reach our goal), and I was able to connect and network with many wonderful people—old and new. For preparation for Brazil, I was able to work in Hong Kong for personal funds as well as experience and personal growth. It also paid for eye corrective surgery and a ticket to come home this Christmas, and gave me a chance to make a difference in the lives of some children in China.
God provided that my student visa went through without a problem, and I am returning to Brazil refreshed, with many new ideas, supplies, and the ability to carry them out. It has been an incredible time, and I am so grateful to everyone who has made it possible.
If you would like to meet personally before I leave for Brazil, or learn more information, please come to my Birthday/Brazil/Bye-Bye party on August 26th at Horizon Central (1001 E. Palmer st.) from 1-3pm. I will be returning to Brazil August 29th, and will soon be posting updates and exciting things to come!
