1. Cajueiro Claro is doing well, enjoying the day to day time with the children. Paul (12) was stabbed in the arm (a couple inch gash) by one of the boys at his school, but is healing well.
It is so sad to see what kinds of things the children are facing on a daily basis. We are working on our literacy program, with five children between 10-16 who have less than a 1st grade reading level. Please pray for volunteers to come and read with the children, helping them one-on-one. This month we focused on Determination, Commitment, and Hospitality, as well as recycling and art projects. With Cajueiro and Mussurepe, over a thousand meals were served in the two communities, and 60 different children were ministered to.

3. At the Trash dump (Lixao in Portuguese), Massa Humana (the group from the Baptist church) is working to find a location where we can meet permanently. Until then, we are using a small shelter in the middle of the community with a dirt floor and little shade, on whatever Saturdays are available. Many volunteers are responding to the call to help, and there is always plenty of food and clothing donated. We are getting to know the children and develop friendships as we sing and tell a story and then break into smaller groups to read books, learn some English, play games, or color a picture.
